Pre-installation general information#

General information about LUNA CARS Installation#

LUNA CARS consists of 3 subsystems:

  • LUNA CARS_Stream
  • LUNA CARS_API
  • LUNA CARS_Analytics

Installation of all 3 subsystems together is possible using the universal installer CARS_Installer. The installer downloads all necessary versions for each subsystem and performs its installation.

The installer distributive is an archive file named cars-installer_v.v.2.14.0.zip, where v.2.14.0 — is the version of installer delivered.

The archive does not include CARS_API, CARS_Stream and CARS_Analytics, which are required for the full operation of the system. Also, the archive does not contain some dependencies, if necessary, these dependencies can be downloaded from open sources during the installation process.

It is possible to install subsystems individually, in certain combinations or to integrate them into external systems.

LUNA CARS can be installed using Docker.

Installation algorithms for each option are given in section LUNA CARS installation and configuration.

The configuration and installation processes must be performed under a superuser account (with root rights).

Licensing#

LUNA CARS uses a licensing utility. License is required for CARS_Stream and CARS_API. CARS_Analytics does not require a license.

LUNA CARS supports several types of licenses (Table 2).

License Type of license Licensing conditions
Network Commercial License is provided strictly in accordance with the terms of the license agreement. Installation and configuration of the license utility may be performed on any server of a local network.
Local Trial License may be provided for testing purposes before license agreement conclusion, and it cannot be used for commercial purposes. Licensing installation and configuration should only be performed on the server where CARS_API and CARS_Stream are installed.

Obtaining a License#

To obtain a license, you must provide following information to a VisionLabs technical support staff:

  • Required period of system operation;
  • Number of used processor cores;
  • Server type (physical or virtual);
  • System fingerprint (the process of obtaining a system fingerprint is described in section LUNA CARS installation and configuration).
